LearnEd

Get ready to build, code, and compete! In this interactive robotics explorartion, young engineers will use Jimu Robots to design and navigate their own custom obstacle courses. Explorers will bring robots to life with block-based coding while exploring real-world STEM concepts like motion, force, and problem-solving. With an emphasis on creativity and teamwork, students will participate in daily build challenges, test runs, and final race day competitions.

Course Highlights (Aligned with Florida Standards):

  • Design and construct robots using Jimu kits
(MA.3.GR.1.1 – Explore how shape and structure affect movement and design.)

  • Use block coding to program robot movements and sensors
(MA.3.DP.1.1; CS.3.CG.1.1 – Collect data and develop instructions for robotic tasks.)

  • Design and test obstacle courses using motion concepts
(SC.3.P.11.1 – Investigate how objects move in different ways.)

  • Collaborate and solve challenges in teams
(ELA.K12.EE.4.1 – Use discussion to explore ideas and solutions.)

AUGUST: Laser Lab – Digital Design for Kids

Explore digital design and laser cutting with SCF’s Glowforge! Students create custom puzzles, signs, and keychains while learning design thinking, STEM safety basics, and fabrication fundamentals in a fun and creative setting.

SEPTEMBER: Minecraft Jr. Coding Quest

Young coders step into Minecraft Education Edition to tackle block-based coding challenges. Students build, explore, and solve in-game quests while mastering programming concepts like loops, sequences, and conditionals.

OCTOBER: Jimu Robotics Obstacle Course Challenge

Budding engineers design and code their own robots using Jimu kits to conquer obstacle courses. With daily design challenges and race-day competitions, kids learn physics, coding, and collaboration in an energetic, team-based environment.

NOVEMBER: Mission MedTech – 3D Printing for Space

Future innovators discover how astronauts might use 3D printers to stay healthy on Mars. Students brainstorm, sketch, and digitally design custom medical tools, then bring their ideas to life with beginner-friendly 3D printing tools.

JANUARY: RoboCoaster – Amusement Park Engineering with SPIKE Prime

Kids become theme park engineers by designing robotic coasters, rides, and games using LEGO® SPIKE Prime kits. Explorers dive into gears, sensors, and block-based programming while solving real-world engineering puzzles as a team.
