Smiles and Circuits: Designing Robots to Spark Joy HALF DAY(Elementary-K-6)

Does your child dream of creating something extraordinary? In Smiles and Circuits, campers will channel their creativity and engineering skills to design a robot whose sole purpose is to bring smiles to others! This challenge is perfect for budding inventors and young problem-solvers, blending imagination with design principles in a fun and engaging environment.

Camp Highlights:

  • Design with Purpose: Campers will create a robot concept no larger than 5 feet x 5 feet x 5 feet. They’ll design for a specific user, focusing on what their robot will do to spread joy.

  • Hands-On Creation: From brainstorming to building, kids will sketch and craft a 3D prototype of their “Robot Friend.”

  • Digital Storytelling: Using Scratch, campers will animate their robot’s story, explaining how it spreads happiness and the tasks it performs.

  • STEAM-Powered Fun: This camp integrates design thinking, art, and technology to inspire young innovators.

What Campers Will Learn:

  • Design principles for robots, including materials, functions, and control mechanisms.

  • Digital storytelling to bring their creations to life.

  • Presentation and collaboration skills through group activities and feedback sessions.

Campers will leave with a digital Scratch project, a robot model, and a sense of accomplishment in creating something that makes the world a little brighter!
