Space Makers: 3D Printing for the International Space Station FULL DAY (Elementary-K-6)
Blast off into the future of innovation in Space Makers, a camp where creativity meets cutting-edge technology! Inspired by NASA’s challenges, campers will step into the shoes of space engineers to design a medical tool or device for astronauts on a 3-year journey to Mars. Using digital modeling and 3D printing, this camp empowers kids to create solutions that could one day help astronauts stay healthy in space.
Camp Highlights:
-
Design for Space: Campers will research the unique challenges of space travel and brainstorm medical devices to address diagnostic, first-aid, surgical, or dental needs.
-
3D Modeling: Using state-of-the-art software, kids will create digital models of their inventions, learning essential engineering and design skills.
-
3D Printing: Campers will bring their digital designs to life with 3D printing, creating tangible prototypes of their medical tools.
-
Digital Storytelling: Using Animoto, campers will produce a professional-quality video presentation showcasing their design process, challenges, and final product.
What Campers Will Learn:
-
The fundamentals of 3D modeling and printing technology.
-
Problem-solving and design thinking skills tailored to space exploration.
-
How to communicate ideas effectively through digital storytelling.
-
The importance of collaboration and innovation in STEM fields.
Final Products:
Each camper will leave with a 3D-printed model of their medical device and an Animoto video presentation showcasing their creative journey. These keepsakes will highlight their skills and imagination while inspiring them to reach for the stars!
